We are excited to announce that we are now well underway with our plans to extend Science For Kids into the English-speaking world and have begun teaching enriching after-school clubs at local schools!
Since last year we have been busily trialling and testing new methods to make these clubs the best that they can possible be and are happy to say that we are now fully booked for 2024-25 at our current school. But we would love to extend our programme to an even wider range of schools across London and its outskirts starting from this academic year. This is what we have to offer: — small teaching groups (of approx. 8 pupils) that allow for a much more individual approach — an opportunity for the children to perform complex practicals accompanied by great theoretical depth that isn’t possible in regular lessons. No parental or school involvement needed! We pride ourselves in our thorough approach and providing all resources.
Our beginner’s course — multifaceted “Physics of Music” allows our students to explore different scientific concepts such as sound waves, their physical characteristics and anatomy through the everyday activity, namely music! Every lesson is structured in a way that provides a theoretical basis that is of a higher level than the national curriculum, and is paired with the fun of crafting musical instruments every week, ready to take home! Some exotic instruments from the previous weeks include: strow saxophone, harmonica, kalimba, buzzer, ektara, berimbau, panflute, carrot whistle, etc. And for our final project, we construct a plastic PVC flute which is fully playable!
A few titles of our other courses are :
PHYSICS: The aero and hydrodynamics of moving objects; Electricity and magnetism
CHEMISTRY: Chemistry in the world around us; Fast Growing Crystals
BIOLOGY: Pond Life Seen through a microscope; Photosynthesis — From Sunlight to Wooden Bow
We would be more than happy to discuss any possible suggestions and queries and are looking forward to working with you!
